People have been bathing in the Zurich Volkshaus since 1910. Built as a bathhouse with shower and bathing cabins in gender-separated operation, the premises under the restaurant were converted into a sauna facility at the end of the 1960s. After a six-month reconstruction phase, the city bath now opens its doors. Here, Nordic sauna culture is mixed with oriental bathing pleasure. Guests can leave everyday life behind and recharge their batteries for a few hours in the midst of contemporary art and architecture.

**Hamam The Hamam in the Stadtbad is based on the traditional Turkish bath with a central navel stone and various washing niches and baths around it. The modern architecture, built from natural materials, and various artistic interventions by Zurich artists give the bathhouse its own unique atmosphere. As in the Orient, the bath is an introverted facility with no connection to the outside. The city recedes into the distance - soul and body begin to fly...

**Sauna The Finnish sauna in the city bath offers Tuesday-Thursday real Russian banya pleasure with birch twig massages and birch infusion. The birch twigs used for mutual massage (lightly or also vigorously hitting the individual parts of the body) promote the blood circulation of the skin and contribute with their fragrant essential oils to a unique sauna pleasure. The banya sauna is more humid but also somewhat less hot than the Finnish dry sauna.
